Life of Ryley!

We just got a super sweet write up on the blog Lifeofryleypooch.blogspot.com. It's a super adorable website dedicated to all sorts of fun for your furry babies! We sent them a collar tag clip and they have it featured on their page. They were sweet enough to rush it just in time for our show and send us a pic of handsome Ryley rockin' our tag holder on his collar!
Being so fashion forward and up on all the hippest trends, Ryley asked for a midnight black tag embellished with a pewter paw print accented with a purple rhinestone. I bet he'll be the envy of the doggy park!
Check out Life of Ryley at www.lifeofryleypooch.blogspot.com to see it all!

On the runway with Urban Hardwear and Sugar Show August 2010!

Here are three of the completed looks! I'm waiting for all the rest from the show. Unfortunately the white corset dress from my earlier post didn't make it to the runway as planned so we were able to only showcase 4 of our 5 planned designs. Our model, Erin, got poached by another designer and we ran out of time to get her changed and back on the runway. Oh well, next time, right? You can see our models, Laya (black leather), Taylor (brown chaps) and Gabby (brown split hide pants) rockin' out our looks! More photos to follow!

Black corset and pants

Once upon a time this corset was actually a black leather couch! Using my stunning model Laya, we fit it to her like a glove. Here are the first incarnations of the corset with the almost final fitting on Laya. It's sewn and riveted together. The stitching is the same stitching they use on baseballs...looks very industrial on the corset! Full runway photos to follow so you can see exactly what it turned out like!

Chaps

These were made from a pair of really old tacky suede pants I found at "Out of the Closet." I slit them down the back and sides and then hand sewed on panels of suede I'd cut and dyed a contrasting brown. (the photo here is pre-stitching...the final photo with Taylor on the runway shows how they look with the black hand stitching...) MUCH improved! You can see Taylor, my totally awesome model, wearing them for our first fitting. Wish they looked that good on me! The whole look was pulled together with a distressed mesh tank, hand dyed cheesecloth scarf and the custom Durango belt I made.

Corset Dress aged and distressed

Looked too pretty all in white so with a little dye, a little tea and a well wielded lighter...we achieved the distressed look...
Unfortunately our model we'd booked to wear it on the runway got poached by another designer before we could dress her so this look DIDN'T make it to the catwalk...so we're saving it for our upcoming show in October!

Corset Dress

This is the first look I completed. The skirt was all hand sewn from a set of old bed sheets. The corset is courtesy of Ebay.

Things I love

So, just got a show this August with the amazing "Sugar Show" team and I'm starting to pull together my line. Trying to find great pieces to really represent what I'm going for. Of course, that means tons of research and drooling over photos of amazing work others have done. Yay!

First off...HUGE FAN OF SKINGRAFT! Check out their INCREDIBLE styles at:
www.skingraftdesigns.com

I love the raw designs and uber high tech all rolled into one. It's a little bit goth with just enough of a twist on it to make the little emo kids steer clear, which is great because this stuff is way too amazing to be mass produced Hot Topic stuff (not that Hot Topic is bad...I have gotten a lot of fun things there!)

I'm trying to decide if I want to take my line towards a more western feel or a more gypsy feel this season...either way, it's gonna be post apocalyptic with a dash of steampunk because that's what U*H is all about!
So, expect new and different designs to be coming out as I work through this all...until then, check us out in our slideshow on the left and of course on Facebook (Urban Hardwear) and our online store on Etsy!

Also, check out the Sugar Show on Facebook.

Welcome to the all new Urban Hardwear blog!

So, getting started with the whole blogging thing. It's a little new for me, I'm used to just good old fashioned Facebook but I thought I'd give this a try. I'm always looking for new inspirations and cutting edge designs so this is a way for me to reach out and share my ideas with others (just no copying me!) :)
So, buckle up and let's see where this ride ends up!
